Brief Description of Course AP Art History is a full year course offered at the Junior/Senior level.
Students will chronologically survey the history of Western Art from the PreHistoric to the present.The goal of this course is to prepare the student to take the Ap Art History Exam. NonWestern Art will also be included especially in comparison to particular styles and function and societal influences.
This course enables students to understand the artwork as a cultural and aesthetic object and also appreciate the iconographic importance within a cultural context.
Students also are able to identify and relate varoius themes, reasons for art production and uses for the arts. Students will become familiar with the technical aspects of art production and their evolution as technological advances occurred in society.
